Expansion valve-TXV-Function and repair
The expansion valve(TXV) removes pressure liquid refrigerant to allow expansion or change of state from a liquid to a mist in the evaporator core.
The high pressure liquid refrigerant entering the expansion valve is very warm. This may be verified by feeling the liquid line before to the expansion valve. The liquid refrigerant leaving the expansion valve is quite cold the temperature drops. The orifice(tiny whole) within the valve does not remove heat, but only reduces pressure(Remember when you release pressure you decrease temperature). Heat molecules contained in the liquid refrigerant spreads out as the refrigerant moves out of the orifice. once pressure is reduced p the liquid refrigerant is at its coldest as it leaves the expansion valve and enters the evaporator.Orlandoventilation.com
